ARSENAL reportedly turned down the chance to rename the Emirates Stadium following interest from Spotify founder Daniel Ek.

The Swedish billionaire was interested in buying Arsenal from Stan Kroenke but he was unsuccessful in his efforts to buy the club he supports.

Arsenal reportedly rejected the chance to rename the stadium after Spotify

But according to The Mirror, Spotify originally came to the table at Arsenal looking to do a stadium naming rights deal.

Stadium naming rights are hugely attractive to clubs as they are very lucrative.

The Gunners might have benefitted from the extra funds as they’re planning a multi-million pound refurbishment of the ground.

After their attempts to buy into Arsenal, Spotify turned their attention towards cash-strapped Spanish giants Barcelona.

The Catalan giants have struggled financially in recent years and even lost their crown jewel in Lionel Messi for FREE.

But the stadium naming rights deal with Spotify could be a game-changer to the tune of £236million.

Barca could clear some of their debt, ease their cash crisis and add funds to their transfer kitty.

There are a number of high profile stars who will be out of contract this summer who Barca could pick up for FREE.

The likes of Franck Kessie, Paul Pogba, Kylian Mbappe, Antonio Ruidger and Paulo Dybala are all out of contract come late June and have been linked with a switch to the Nou Camp.
