PIERS Morgan last night laid into Meghan Markle after finally announcing her Spotify podcast – two years after landing the £18million deal.

The Sun columnist branded the Duchess of Sussex a “proven liar” for sticking with the streaming giant despite voicing concerns over its promotion of anti-vaxx content.

Spotify signed a deal with Meghan and Prince Harry’s production company Archewell Audio in 2020.

They promised to produce and host podcasts that “build community through shared experience, narratives and values”.

But in the many months since the announcement, only one episode has been made.

The couple later expressed “concern” about the “serious harms of misinformation” present on Spotify – such as Covid jab sceptic Joe Rogan peddling lies on his show.

It piled pressure on them to ditch their mega-deal, but the Sussexes seem to be satisfied changes have been made on the platform – as a podcast series has been confirmed for summer 2022.

Responding to the announcement, telly favourite Piers slammed the duchess for going back on her argument that Spotify encouraged the “real-time global misinformation crisis”.

Piers tweeted: “So a proven liar is now satisfied nobody else is lying? Beyond parody.”

A spokesperson for Archwell Audio said Meghan’s team had been “encouraged” by conversations with Spotify about “policies, practices and strategies to minimise the spread of misinformation”.

In a statement, shared via close pal Omid Scobie, they added: “As a result, production of Meghan’s first podcast series, launching summer ‘22, continues.”

The Sun has approached representatives for Meghan Markle for further comment.
